Features for June 2012

Welcome to the June issue of Virtual Violet! Like most of you, I have started bringing out the porch chairs and other warm weather necessities. I just bought my first watermelon of the season and I’m thinking about planting strawberry plants (unfortunately, I have a brown thumb). Summer air makes us want to play hooky from life and relax in the warmth of the sun. Maybe it stems from the excitement of summer break as children, but this time of year fills us with thoughts of open-ended possibilities.

As we kick off the summer months, we hope this issue will inspire you to make the most out of the hot weather and sunshine. Some of our sisters have shared great links and ideas that will give you a head start in planning your summer. We are also highlighting some exciting events that will be featured in Texas during our national convention. Don’t forget to check out the alumnae spotlight on the amazing Karyn Nishimura Sneath, one of our Leadership for Life speakers. Convention is right around the corner and we would love for you to join us. If you’re looking for something fun to do with your sisters, check out our special registration packages just for alumnae.

Also in this issue, we want to give a warm welcome to our newest alumnae! The feature article this month is all about jumping into alumnae life with both feet after graduation. The transition phase can be awkward and exciting at the same time. The alumnae team is working hard to help new alumnae during this transition. New alumnae receive a special edition of Virtual Violet packed full of information to help with the transition. If you are interested in checking it out, click here. This special edition is sent twice a year to our newest alumnae members.

Our collegiate days are a few sand crystals on the vast beach of our Sigma Kappa lives. Sigma Kappa is your sorority…how vast is your beach?

Loyally,

Reminder: There will be no July or August issues of Virtual Violet. Staff and volunteers will be celebrating our sisterhood in The Woodlands, Texas for our 85th national convention!
