Asperger's syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder Research is near and dear to Amy's heart, because her son lives with Aspergers syndrome. Amy and her family help support research initiatives and educational programs for Asperger's syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Amy says her son inspires her to see the world differently every day. |

Mary Ellen Elkins - Director of Alumnae Expansion

Mary Ellen has been the Hawkins County United Way Campaign co-chairman for the past three years. She enjoys supporting the United Way because it is an important part of her community - influencing her life as well as the lives of her neighbors and friends. The United Way provides services to people in all walks of life by providing funds to 16 different local agencies, including fire & rescue departments, mental & physical health departments and the Boys & Girls Club of Hawkins County. |

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Kara's mother passed away due to ALS, so she raises money to support both the ALS association and the Methodist Hospital's ALS clinic. |

Lyle gives to her parochial (parish) music ministry each week. Though a lifelong pianist, Lyle is the principal organist & chief chorister at her church's afternoon Saturday Vigil Mass. |
