Planning a Reunion
When should the reunion be held? If hosting a reunion at your alma mater, work with the collegiate chapter as they already have a calendar in place. By working with them, you may find a date that works perfect with their calendar. Or maybe Founders’ Day is the perfect date to celebrate all weekend long! There is no wrong or right time to host a reunion; it is all about what works for the potential attendees.
Who should be invited to the reunion? Begin with the question, how big do we want this reunion to be? Are you looking for a formal gala or just a luncheon with your new member class? The overall feel of the event will help determine if you should invite your specific class or all women from your collegiate chapter.
Where should we host the reunion? Once size of the reunion is determined, a location will be easier to find. With a small group, a restaurant at an easily accessible location for the attendees would be great. If the reunion is large, what better place to connect than the chapter house or campus where the sisters met for the first time?

What can a collegiate chapter assist with? If you are interested in hosting the reunion at the chapter house or suite, or even on campus, ask the vice president of alumnae relations (VPAR) for support. She will be able to provide you with a calendar and potential dates. In addition to date selection and venue space, the VPAR may have up to date information on the chapter’s alumnae. A current listing of names and addresses to the alumnae is a great place to begin with invitations.

What information does national headquarters have to help? NHQ can provide chapter lists of alumnae to compliment the list from the collegiate chapter. Also, if you are looking to purchase postcards for save the dates or pens for favors, supplies are readily available for purchase. For more planning guidance, you can access the Handbook for State and Regional Conference Planning and Chapter Reunions on the “For Sisters Only” side of the website. Or, you can contact the director of events directly at aahrens@sigmakappa.org with questions you may have.
